Methodology

How the numbers are made

Short version: we collect public marketplace pages once a week, keep only listings of the exact item, and publish medians with their sample sizes. Never the listings themselves.

Sources

SourceWhat we useType
GOATLowest ask and last sale for every size, new in box, US.SOLD + ASK
Mercari (US)The most recent sold listings for the item (up to 100 per search). Sneakers: new condition only. Fashion and electronics: all conditions, with a per-condition breakdown on each page.SOLD
Chrono24Current listings whose title carries the exact reference number, USD only.ASK
StockX90-day average sale price and sales count for the exact product, US dollars only. StockX shows prices in the visitor's local currency, so any week it answers in another currency, StockX is left out for that item rather than converted.SOLD

Matching the exact item

Search results mix sizes (GS, women's, toddler), special editions and bundles. For GOAT and StockX we only use the one product whose exact title we verified by hand. If it is missing in a week, that source is skipped rather than guessed. For Mercari a sale counts only if its title contains the item's key words, none of its exclusion words (for example "Zelda edition", "controller", "bundle", "for parts", "empty box") and its price sits inside a sanity band.

SOLD vs ASK

SOLD means finished sales. ASK means what sellers are asking today; deals usually close below that. We never mix them in one number, and weekly changes compare like with like.

Sample size and confidence

Every price shows n, the number of data points behind it. Fewer than 5: the source is not used. 5 to 9: low confidence, a warning in the text, and the page is hidden from search engines. 10 to 29: medium. 30 or more: high. Items without enough data do not get a page.

For GOAT, n counts sizes: each size contributes its last recorded sale. GOAT does not publish the date of that sale, so it can be older than this week. For sneakers we use men's sizes 7 to 13 when at least 5 of them have a sale, because very small and very large sizes trade at extreme prices.

"Where to sell" compares only platforms we have real prices for, each at its own typical price; "best" is shown only when there are at least two. A separate "same price, every platform" table compares fees alone, including platforms (like eBay) where we collect no prices.

Fee pages checked on 2026-10-30: StockX verified on the official page; GOAT (goat.com blocks automated reading; numbers from GOAT's fee page as quoted by search results.); eBay verified on the official page; Mercari verified on the official page; Chrono24 (chrono24.com blocks automated reading; rate from secondary sources (2026).).

Schedule and history

Data is collected once a week. Each week is saved and never overwritten, so price history builds up over time. If a source fails, its last good data stays up for at most two weeks, marked OLD DATA with its date, and it is never counted as a weekly change. After that the source is dropped until it works again. Weekly changes compare only the same source and method in consecutive weeks.

What we publish, and what we don't

We publish aggregated statistics only: medians, ranges and counts. We do not copy listing photos, descriptions or seller names, and we link back to every source. We are not affiliated with any marketplace. If you represent one and want something changed, email malek_oweis@yahoo.com.
